Devlog 11: Polish Week 1
Tech
Greetings, divine gamers! In this update, we've been busy sprinkling divine magic into the Godly Gambit. Our enemies now move with captivating animations, bringing life to the battlefield. We've also added an exciting twist by dynamically matching the cursor and god color, making your divine powers feel more immersive. Witness the power of destruction with a stunning death animation. Feel the impact as your gamepad rumbles when meteors strike. To enhance clarity, we've introduced a mesmerizing rejoin light effect in the lobby, ensuring you never lose sight of your divine hue. The meteor showers are more unpredictable than ever, descending from anywhere in the heavens. We've resolved numerous pesky bugs along the way and challenged you further by reducing your godly lives to three. Remember, even gods need a thrill!
In terms of balancing changes, we have made several adjustments. Firstly, we increased the cooldown for the god's ability to spawn soldiers, making it less frequent. Additionally, we have made the fighter run faster when moving backwards, adding more versatility and control to their movements. Furthermore, we increased the speed of the meteors, creating a greater sense of urgency and challenge for the players.
Regarding the endscreen, we have made improvements to enhance the overall experience. We added a fade-in effect for all the portraits and buttons, creating a smoother and more visually appealing transition. Moreover, we changed the order of presentation from last place to first place, heightening the suspense and anticipation as players discover who the ultimate victor is. These enhancements aim to make the endscreen more engaging and satisfying for players.
Art
A better visual update for the god cursor. Now it’s very clear which player is God at the current time.
The God UI also got its update. We added cool flames to make it very clear who is the actual God.
Some dynamic feel with making the lights flicker, like it should do in real life.
We’ve also added Dash Animations to the fighter! This makes the dash look a little bit more dynamic that just a simple slide:
In addition to this, we have also added new button animations for the menus. These make the menus feel a lot more interactive and alive!
We added Embers to the menus to fit with the theme and logo of the game. These are the embers used in the different screens before you play the game and just after.
We also want to make the switch and spawn of the ‘God’ more noticeable. This is one part of the death switch event. this is the effect we would like to use to spawn the red character as god, there are color variations of each of the characters.
Sound
We have extended the use of the fire ember sound effect from the other menus to the endscreen, creating a cohesive audio experience throughout the game. This inclusion adds a touch of consistency and familiarity to the endscreen. Additionally, we have implemented a new sound effect where the fighter emits a screech when they meet their demise. This auditory cue enhances the immersion and emotional impact of the fighter's defeat, adding a visceral element to the gameplay experience.
