Devlog 7: Production Sprint 1 week 4

This week, we gave the fighters some more attention. They have been given a new dash ability to help them get out of sticky situations. Currently, when you dash, you move in the direction you are already moving. We can change this so that you dash in the direction you aim, or a combination of both - if you're moving, you dash in the movement direction, and if you're standing still, you dash in the aim direction. Additionally, with this new ability, fighters can dash through enemies so that they can't body-block and prevent you from reaching safety.


In our previous devlog, you saw the model for the health pack, and now it is fully functional. When your fighter takes damage, you can walk over the health pack to regain a portion of your health. However, it's important to note that these health packs will spawn in the level, and you'll need to be quick to grab them before your greedy teammates do. And the health packs also have a despawn timer, so after a certain amount of time, they will disappear. You'll know when a health pack is about to despawn because it will start blinking, and the blinking will get faster and faster until it disappears. For now, this feature is not part of the gameplay loop.

We’ve also implemented some particle effects. Namely a dust effect when the player is moving and a blood effect when the player shoots an enemy. We’ve fixed some bugs with the arrow collision.

Art

Some more Effects have been made such as a spawn effect and an illuminating pulsing effect to make it clear to the players that this is a pick-up to look out for.


Some new models have been made and have W.I.P. texture to decorate the arena a bit more.

Some of our time has been dedicated to making our level have a nice feeling. Little lighting changes and some fire particles really set the mood for our big arena brawl.

The enemies now also have a texture, and will be rigged & animated in the upcoming weeks as well:

In addition to this, we have also added more fighter animations! Unfortunately these have not been able to be implemented into the actual gameplay yet, but this will be a high priority for the upcoming days!

The heavy hitting attack of our god: The Meteor! We have a model that is waiting for a texture but is already in use in our latest build.
